Host a Bear Themed Baby Shower With Me!

This past weekend, I had the joy of getting to celebrate a friend of mine & her baby boy who is on the way! When she asked me if I could host her Dallas-based shower, of course I gave her a resounding yes, and naturally, I took to Pinterest shortly after.

I’ve seen many baby shower theme ideas, but I decided to go with a bear themed baby shower. The tagline was “We Can Bearly Wait to Meet Baby Harris!” I feel like it is important to have a cute saying or two to use throughout your decorating to create a cohesive & bubbly personality to your party. Another saying I used throughout the shower was “Oh Baby!” as seen on banners, ribbon, & other decorations.

Even though my friend was having a boy, I didn’t want to go with a blue color scheme, so I chose green, brown, and neutrals. It felt fitting for a bear theme!

The most fun aspect for me was planning and dreaming the details of the day. I made many vision boards & collages to bring my vision to life. Needless to say, Pinterest & Canva were my best friends when dreaming of this baby shower. When it was time to execute the event, I enjoyed getting to see everything come together!

I feel like hosting is so much more than just decorations and putting food out. It is considering how people may be coming into your space, what they will need, what is pleasing to the senses, etc. You want them to remember the way you made them feel, not just the decorations you hung.

For example, I knew that there would be a lot of people in the house, so I turned the air down a few degrees. I knew that people would be using the bathroom in the hall, so I wanted to make sure it was stocked with toilet paper & febreeze… just in case! The baby shower was at 10:30, so I provided food that would be filling at this point in the morning, but also easy finger foods in case someone just wanted a nibble.

For the baby shower, we utilized two primary areas of the house – the living room and the kitchen/dining area. In the living room, I decorated my TV stand with baby onesies and had a large white backdrop next to it with a sign that said “oh baby” on it. I placed an accent chair in front of the backdrop with a large teddy bear sitting in it & gifts next to it. On my coffee table, I printed out some cards with games on the front & back to play with the group later in the shower. I made sure to have pens available because nobody brings a pen to a baby shower…

As you walk into the kitchen, I hung a bear banner with a garland underneath which I made using green ribbon & ribbon that says “oh baby” on it (do you see the theme here?). On your left as you enter the kitchen was the “bear bar” with lemonade & cucumber water. In the center of my dining room was my large table elaborately dressed with all sorts of snacks. To keep with the theme, there were “bear bagels” & cream cheese, “bear bites” (mini pigs in a blanket), “bear-ies” & yogurt, and “bear babycakes.” I used the same canva design throughout the entire party. The little food signs, welcome sign, bear cards, and invitations all had the same cohesion. I felt as though this was an important detail that couldn’t be spared.

Hosting this shower was nothing short of joyous! It is a creative outlet for me to celebrate & welcome people into our new home!
